The EU-based BD team was visiting the Health Ingredients show in Frankfurt last week. There was a very healthy buzz around specialty food ingredients & nutraceuticals; loads of attention to sugar replacement solutions (stevia), specialty ingredients (enzymes, proteins), infant formula developments (HMO's) and various approaches to high-protein ingredients/animal source replacements (plant and microbial-based!). It's absolutely interesting to see food applications shifting to health applications and more often also backed-up with science-based claims. Definately something to keep monitoring in industry! It was also very refreshing to see a vast amount of companies branding "the biotech approach." From that perspective, it's also comforting to understand that Capua BioServices is positoned to handle pharma- as well as food-grade manufacturing including the quality requirements as a service provider.
So, what's your most recent healthy experience? How much fat-reduced, sugar-reduced or protein-enhanced foods have you been eating during past days?
